A Brides Interview with Dawn Cowart, Your Wedding Arhitect

How long have you been a Wedding Architect and how did you get started?

Well, I don’t have an exciting story like “it came to me in the dark of night” or anything like that, I just love- love-LOVE events and weddings in particular. Throughout my life I have worked in many “wedding” professions.  Over the years I worked with a catering company, did floral design and interior design for several companies.  I even drove a limousine!  I get such joy out of creating an event that the Bride and Groom will always remember and their guests will talk about forever.    I consider it a great privilege to be included in the beginning of a new family, and that is just what a wedding is.
I have been planning weddings for many years since I planned my own wedding in 1988 – and YES – I am still married – to the same man!   And six years ago I started my own company, Traditionally Modern.  I really don’t like the title “Wedding Planner”, it sounds like all we do is plan – not implement.  So if I could make up my own title it would be “Dream Creator and Implementer”, after all, the best part of planning the wedding is actually implementing the design and decor on the Wedding day.   You actually get to see your vision and your passion come to life!  It is so amazing looking at the smiles on the faces of the Bride and Groom and their families.

There are so many Wedding Planners/Designers/Coordinators around, what makes you different? Why should we choose you to plan our wedding?

The first thing that sets Traditionally Modern apart is that we are a team!  Not just one planner, designer, or coordinator  but an entire team of informed, intelligent and experienced men and women who’ve come together to make your wedding everything you want it to be.
We also know that communication is key!  We spend time getting to know our couples and listening to their wants and desires for their wedding. From the lead planner to the delivery staff, we work together and everyone knows what their responsibility is the day of your wedding.  You see, this is our job – our full-time career (with the exception of parenting that is).  While you are working all day at the job you are best at, we are working hard for you at the job we are best at doing. Our primary goal is always to make your wedding day as unique and special as you are.
What I bring to the table is professionalism, humor, and a little “rebel”. And I don’t mean just southern charm either! I like to think outside the box, and   I don’t produce cookie cutter weddings for our clients.   Each wedding I design is a well-thought out, unique and innovative vision.  We don’t always have to do what is expected – that’s half the fun, right?  Even if you are the most traditional Bride and Groom, you can always add something that is uniquely “you”.  I am passionate about my work and I showcase that passion with every wedding.
We only take you to vendors we know, like and trust.  And we take the time to match our Brides and Grooms to the vendors that will give them the service they desire at a price that fits their budget.  We are confident with our vendors and only use the best in the industry.
We take only a select amount of weddings each year so that we may devote as much time and attention as needed to our Brides and Grooms.
Simply put, Traditionally Modern is Creative. Innovative. Unique.

We love your passion, and your Portfolio, but how can we afford to hire a professional Wedding Planning Team?

You can’t afford not to!  You will never know how much you needed a professional wedding planner until the day after your wedding.  Hundreds of hours are spent creating and researching throughout the planning process.  Not to mention the stress that creeps in as the days go by when you’re doing it all alone.
Stop and think about this – you hire a professional to help you with your investments, right?  You go to a professional when you repair your car.  Why wouldn’t you get professional help when planning your wedding? After all, we know all the “ins” and “outs” of wedding planning do you?  What it takes you to produce in ten steps will take us two, this save you time money and sanity.  Having our team behind you ensures you and your families will be “guests” at your wedding.
I want you to have the wedding of your dreams, don’t you? Think seriously about your dream wedding and what it means to you.  Now, the next step is to simply call or visit with me for your complimentary “get acquainted” consultation so we can really talk about how we can create your dream wedding together.

What kind of Brides and party planners do you work best with?

I work well with those who really want their dream wedding and are just unsure about how to get it.  They either don’t have the time or the resources or just don’t know how to get started.   If you know what you want but have no idea how to get it or you have great ideas but don’t quite know how to implement them, we are a great fit!

However, there is another side to the coin.  If you truly do not understand the value of having a professional wedding planner or don’t believe that you deserve your dream wedding, then we will not be a good fit.  Be honest with yourself before we get started, or I will not be able to help you the way you need it.  You must believe you deserve your dream wedding in order for us to create it together.
I truly believe that you deserve your dream wedding and I want to help you make it happen.

My friend said that she lost control of her wedding because she had a Wedding Planner, will that happen with you?

NO WAY! This is your wedding, your dream, your day.  I had my wedding a long time ago, so I don’t need to re-create my own fantasy on your dime! My desire is to help you achieve what you see for your wedding day.  Our team acts as your advocate and we work alongside you, not in front of you.  However, I will tell you honestly when I think something may not be a good fit for your design or vision (or if something is in your teeth).

Will you work with vendors that we have already found?

Absolutely.  It isn’t necessary for you to use only our preferred vendors, we will gladly work with the ones you have selected.  However, we have vendors in every category that we can easily match to your needs.

Are you cash only?

Are there still cash-only businesses? (I use my debit card for everything!) We accept all major credit cards through Paypal.  We will schedule auto drafts for all of your payments so that is one less thing for you to worry about!

Do you have liability insurance?

Yes.  We have never needed it, but we do have it.

This sounds great – what comes next?

Awesome! The next step is for you to call or email me to set up our “Get Acquainted” complimentary consultation so I can hear what you’d love to see on your wedding day.  I will gladly walk you through our packages to see which one makes sense for you and explain the planning process in more detail.

Do you have references?

Yes, as many as you need.  Our former clients and their families have sent us letters and cards of thank you over the years and we are often invited to the baby showers within a few years! You can also look at our client testimonial page.

If I have more questions before getting started can I call you?

Of Course! We know your wedding is customized and unique to each couple.  Feel free to call me with any questions or ideas! 678.300.2124 or email me
I am so excited to meet you – Congratulations on finding the love of your life!
